Anoka, Minnesota has been called the Halloween Capital of the World.
It all started in 1920 when an Anoka businessman suggested the idea of the giant Halloween celebration in divert the youngsters from old time Halloween pranks.
The idea was adopted by the Anoka Commercial Club and the Anoka Kiwanis Club and has been annual event ever since.
The celebration now consists of two parades, costume contest, queen coronation, Pumpkin Bowl football game, foot races, window decorating, and much more. It is founded by the Anoka businessman and button sales.
